Environmental Education at Thalatta

The 2015 Educational Workshop Series was a great success at Thalatta, presented by The Institute for Regional Conservationism. Program focused on our community and the environment. Thanks for joining us.

Earth Week Celebration 2015

Earth Day is so big in Palmetto Bay it takes a full week to celebrate. Villagers of all ages participated in a wide range of entirely green activities, all free to the public, April 19-26. See more.

Village Celebrates Arbor Day Jan. 16

Village hosted a celebration at Palmetto Bay Park Jan. 16, during which Boy Scout Troop 20 honored Florida State's recognition of Arbor Day by planting a live oak tree. See our Facebook photo album.

FPL Relocating Royal Palms

FPL is relocating 25 mature trees in Palmetto Bay that were planted years ago by Miami-Dade County under power lines. Removal and relocation work starts Jan. 16 along the east side of Franjo Road.

Mangrove Kayak Adventure Program

The monthly Mangrove Kayak Adventure program at Thalatta Estate has concluded but will be back in 2015 due to resounding popularity. Contact Parks Admin for further info -- and see photos.

Garden Club Honors Homeowner

The board of the Palmetto Bay Garden Club formally presented the Garden of the Year Award to Dr. Lloyd Wruble at their May 27 meeting. Read more, and get news coverage in the Palmetto Bay News.

Program Lures 65 Kids to Fishing Event

"Get a Kid Fishing" was the big fish tale of the season as 65 kids and family members gathered at Thalatta Estate July 11 for a full day of fishing and boating-skills training. See photo gallery.

4th Place Finish in 2014 Wyland Competition

Thanks for participating in the 2014 Mayor's Challenge, Wyland Foundation's water-reduction campaign. Mayor Stanczyk reports preliminary results show Palmetto Bay placed 4th, nationally. Read more.

Earth Week Offers a World of Green Activities

Palmetto Bay celebrates Earth Day with an entire week of events for Villagers of all ages. The 2014 celebration included Movie Night, Tree Give-Away, poster contest, and lady bug releases. Our bicycle event and Eco-Kayak Tour also were hugely successful. Read more.
